WV Secretary of Commerce Ed Gaunch visits Core10 Office

Team discussing software implementation and integration

Recently appointed by Governor Jim Justice, Cabinet Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Commerce, Ed Gaunch visited the Core10 Hereshore® Development Center in Huntington yesterday afternoon. Following a successful career in insurance and active involvement in community organizations, Secretary Gaunch is excited to be serving the great state of West Virginia by furthering to develop economic agency.

Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) President and CEO, David Lieving, brought Core10 to the attention of Secretary Gaunch as a potential stop for his tour of Huntington opportunities. The work Core10 is doing to tap into the ever-increasing pipeline of talent growing in West Virginia by creating software development jobs in West Virginia was just the stop Gaunch was looking for.

During his visit, Amy Simpson, Senior Organizational Development Manager at Core10, gave them a tour of the office and facilitated discussion with our development team. The Secretary’s main interest was in challenges we face and the programs we support. We were so fortunate to be able to showcase our company and our talent that stems from various backgrounds. Among the panel of Core10 employees that sat down with Secretary Gaunch included those that are or have participated in the following: Learn and EarnGeneration WV Impact FellowshipNewForce, individuals who have left the state and returned home, career changers and the very first Core10 developer hired.

The Secretary grew up in a small coal camp himself, so the work we are doing here through our Hereshore® model brought a smile to his face that he had said hadn’t appeared in a very long time. Seeing the investment Core10 has in West Virginia with technology and showing casing the talent individuals have in areas other than coal and manufacturing, was what impressed him the most. He was pleased to see how we fit with the West Virginia Department of Commerce’s plans for the future of WV.

Secretary Gaunch is very pleased and happy to support our needs for the future of cultivating talent in the Mountain State. West Virginia is full of opportunity and Core10 is proud to play our part in furthering the economic development and diversification of the mountaineer state.
